Sailing On

I reached the end of this old town
So long ago
I watch the clouds blow by
And wonder where they float

If I could fly I bet they’d follow me
To somewhere better, I just know it

I look around and they’re just
Running everywhere
I sing my songs and it don’t
Matter if they care

And who could take away what I love?
I am the ocean and the keeper

When I’m gone some morning
I’m not gonna stop
Til I made it, and I’m laying
In the warm golden sun
My heart is patient and silent

And I’m sailing on

My friends are poets from
A hundred years ago
The world I know is simple
And it’s beautiful

And I belong with all the dreamers
I’ll find them if it takes forever

When I’m gone some morning
I’m not gonna stop
Til I made it, and I’m laying
In the warm golden sun
My heart is patient and silent

And I’m sailing on

I smile when things are good
I smile when they are not
Can’t wait until this is
A time that I forgot

And I’ll return when I am older
And if I don’t that would be alright

When I’m gone some morning
I’m not gonna stop
Til I made it, and I’m laying
In the warm golden sun
My heart is patient and silent

And I’m sailing on
